Every year, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra enchants its audience with impressive and equally contemplative works. They draw from a rich repertoire of the Strauss dynasty and their contemporaries - the Vienna Philharmonic New Year’s Concert combines the best of the best!
This year’s New Year’s Concert will be conducted by Riccardo Muti. The traditional music concert will take place in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein. Glory and splendor in the midst of dark times - the first New Year’s Concert on December 31, 1939: the origins of the New Year’s Concert go back to the darkest period of Austria’s and Vienna’s history.
Today, the Vienna Philharmonic’s New Year’s Concert is the most famous New Year’s Concert in the world. It is dedicated primarily to the works of the Strauss dynasty (Johann Strauss father, Johann Strauss son, Eduard Strauss and Josef Strauss).
While works of the Strauss dynasty form the framework of the concert program, works by other composers are also regularly included in the program.
Tickets for the New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day Concert in Vienna - Music lovers from all over the world have the same opportunity!
